In its 26^th year the Yuba/ Sutter Bike Around the Buttes is approaching quickly and the Yuba City Hotel Palisade is the place to stay.

The Bike Around the Buttes has courses for any type of rider. The first ride is the Fun Course and is only 17.5 miles with gorgeous views of the Buttes, a small incline, and a fully stocked rest stop. The second ride is the Classic Course at 40 miles long with wonderful historic sights to see and three rest stops. The last ride is the Century Ride, a complete 100 mile course! It’s a flat course that is great to get into shape for the upcoming cycling season. With amazing views of much of Sutter county, five rest stops, and a 5 minute massage therapy, it’s sure to be an outstanding ride!

Races are on April 16^th this year. The Century Course start time is between 7:00 and 7:55a.m. and all other races begin between 8 and 11 a.m. Check in is at the Youth Sutter Organization Building. Click here to see a map. Registration for the rides range from $23-50 before the day of the event, depending on the ride you choose and when you register. All proceeds from this great event benefit the Yuba/ Sutter Type 1 Diabetes Support Group.

Fight cancer and raise money for the American Cancer Society in the Relay for Life while staying at the Yuba City Hotel Palisade. This 24 hour event begins at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 12th and ends at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 13th. The race will be held at Geweke Field which is less than a mile from our hotel.

You can register as an individual or join a team! Each team has its members take turns to have a member racing during the 24 hour race. This race began in 1985 when one man (Dr. Gordy Klatt) walked for 24 hours to raise money. Since then, this race has spread all over the country to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

There will be a survivors lap from 9- 10 a.m. on Saturday to celebrate survivors. There will also be a Luminaria Ceremony on Saturday night at 10 p.m. to honor those who have been lost to cancer. In addition, there will be some activities going on throughout the event, including Relay Idol, Jug-a-Thon, Relay Olympics, and Slip/Slop/Slap Relay. After a long day (and night) of racing and events, come rest in your comfortable room at our hotel. Relax in the spa, watch a movie in your room, or catch some ZZZs!

That night, after dinner on the field, the movie Fly Boys will be shown.

On Sunday the 13th, there will be model airplanes, another Blue Thunder speed attempt, and workshops. Workshops will cover topics from flying the SR- 71 to Sport Pilots to affordable flying and many more. Military fly bys will also be occurring throughout the weekend with times to be announced.
